87North, the banner behind action flicks John Wick, Bullet Train, Nobody, and more, is teaming up with Amazon MGM for a hot project with Jason Momoa and David Leitch. Deadline reports Momoa and Leitch are set to produce The Pirate, that is being developed as a starring vehicle for Momoa that Leitch could direct.
Plot details on The Pirate are under wraps, but it’s being described as “The Raid set on a pirate ship” which sounds pretty awesome. Will Dunn wrote the screenplay. He was among the writers on Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel series.
Coming up for Leitch is next year’s How to Rob a Bank, also with Amazon MGM. That film stars Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Pete Davidson, John C. Reilly, Anna Sawai, Rhenzy Feliz, and Christian Slater. He’s a producer on Nobody 2 which is in theaters now.
Momoa is coming off the blockbuster box office of Minecraft, and can be seen right now in Apple TV+ series Chief of War. He’ll be returning as Duncan Idaho for Dune: Part Three, followed by playing Blanka in Legendary’s Street Fighter movie.
