‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ Trailer: Rose Byrne’s Award-Winning Performance Leads A24’s Dark Dramedy

The awards buzz is beginning to build for Rose Byrne’s unhinged performance in Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Premiering at Sundance earlier this year, the film went ahead to earn her the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at the Berlin Film Festival. And now A24 is kicking the hype for Byrne to the next level with the first trailer.

Byrne plays Linda, a mother barely holding it together as she deals with her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a mother who abandons her baby, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist played hysterically by Conan O’Brien.

Also in this loaded cast are A$AP Rocky, Christian Slater, Danielle Macdonald, Ivy Wolk, Daniel Zolghadri, and Josh Pais.

Cortland reviewed If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and praised its unrelenting nature and Byrne’s go-for-broke portrayal of a mother on the brink. I was not as big a fan of it as others, but Byrne is at her absolute best as she usually is when playing someone in crisis.

SYNOPSIS: With her life crashing down around her, Linda (Rose Byrne) attempts to navigate her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist.

A24 releases If I Had Legs I’d Kick You this October.
