‘Eden’ Trailer: Galapagos Affair Thriller Stars Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, And Sydney Sweeney

Ron Howard, Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Sydney Sweeney. The combination of talent in front of and behind the camera should be enough to attract anyone to the upcoming historical survival thriller, Eden. That the film is also about the fascinating Galapagos Affair only makes this a more anticipated release from Vertical this month.

For those unaware, the Galapagos Affair was a scandal centered on the mysterious disappearances and deaths of disillusioned expats on the remote island of Floreana in the 1930s.

In the trailer, we see Law as Dr. Friedrich Ritter, the man who started the settlement on Floreana, disillusioned with life in Germany. Kirby plays his wife, Dora Strauch, a true believer in his vision. Bruhl and Sweeney play Heinz and Margret Wittmer, the first to join them on the island, causing tension among the group. Armas plays a famous Baroness who, along with her two male lovers, have plans of their own for what the island should be.

I’ve always been fascinated by this story, and have long wanted to see it turned into a major film like this. I’ve seen it now, but you’ll have to wait for my review in a couple of weeks when Eden hits theaters on August 22nd.

SYNOPSIS: Director Ron Howard’s Eden unravels the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon civilization, settling on a remote, uninhabited island only to discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. As tensions spiral and desperation takes hold, a twisted power struggle unfolds, leading to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.
