There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming military thriller for Netflix, A House of Dynamite. But the curtain is being lifted somewhat today with the release of some new images, including one with star Rebecca Ferguson.
What we know is that the film will detail the White House response, in real time, to a ballistic missile attack. The script is by Noah Oppenheim, known for penning Jackie and the Maze Runner films.
Like many of Bigelow’s films, the ensemble cast is stacked. Joining Ferguson are Idris Elba, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, with Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke. Also starring Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kyle Allen, and Kaitlyn Dever.
This is Bigelow’s first movie since 2017’s Detroit. She became the first female director to win the Oscar for Best Director with The Hurt Locker. Bigelow followed that with another military drama, Zero Dark Thirty.
SYNOPSIS: When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.
A House of Dynamite will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 2nd. It will get a limited theatrical release in October before hitting Netflix on October 24th.
