Two recent Oscar nominees, Demi Moore and Colman Domingo, are following their accolades with Strange Arrivals, a film dealing with interracial relationships and alien abduction. Sounds pretty damn cool.
Variety reports that Oscar-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams (Cassandro, Music by Prudence) will direct Moore and Domingo in Strange Arrivals. Williams and See-Saw Films will be taking it to the Cannes sales market soon.
Here’s the intriguing premise, which centers around the real-life first couple to report an alien abduction…
Inspired by the incredible true story of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who, in 1961, became the first reported case of an alien abduction, as they journeyed back from their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. Their experience catapulted them to fame and celebrity, but underneath that notoriety simmered the truth of what really happened that night, which would test even the most epic of romances.
“As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft is a dream,” said Roger Ross Williams in an official statement about the new genre-bending period project. “Demi and Colman coming together for the first time to bring Jane Anderson’s beautiful script that illuminates the human condition to life, will be magic. I am also thrilled to work alongside the remarkable team at See-Saw. They have an amazing track record of making artist-driven stories, and we couldn’t be in better hands.”
Moore is coming off her acclaimed performance in The Substance. Domingo became the first African-American actor ever nominated two years in a row for the Best Actor Academy Award, for Rustin and Sing Sing.
