Reports of the demise of Ezra Miller’s career may have been premature. The controversial, troubled actor has been persona non grata since a string of legal issues and odd behavior, not to mention the tanking of The Flash. But in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, director Lynne Ramsay revealed she has a new horror film in the works, and it’ll be a reunion with Miller.
Ramsay, who is enjoying the Cannes buzz following the world premiere of her new film, Die, My Love starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, teased a vampire project she’s working on that’ll reunite her with Miller…
“I’m making a vampire movie…I can’t tell you much. It’s with Ezra Miller, who was in [‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’]. He’s the main character. That’s in development,” Ramsay said.
Ramsay has only directed five features across her 20+ year career, most of them exploring dark, psychological terrain: Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar, You Were Never Really Here, Die, My Love, and 2011’s We Need to Talk About Kevin which starred Miller as a deeply disturbed youth who commits a mass shooting at his high school. Ramsay had been an arthouse favorite before then, but this was the film that struck a chord on a larger level. It also put Miller on the map as an actor.
It’s clear that Ramsay isn’t concerned about Miller’s past issues, which shouldn’t be a surprise. She has always been a filmmaker who does her own thing. Miller was at Cannes for the Die, My Love premiere, too, so it’s clear they still have a strong bond.
