New ‘Superman’ Teaser Shows The Fortress Of Solitude And Supes’ Robot Nurses

DC Studios revealed an extended look at James Gunn’s Superman during its CinemaCon presentation. There’s a lot riding on this movie for the future of the brand, and what Gunn and Peter Safran hope to accomplish.  That means there’s a lot riding on star David Corenswet to win over fans with his portrayal of the Man of Steel. Whatever one thinks of Zack Snyder, there was general consensus that Henry Cavill was pretty cool as the last son of Krypton.

The trailer isn’t drastically different from the previously released teaser. We see Krypto the Superdog coming to save an injured Superman, plus dramatic flashes of the many characters that will appear and the hardships he’ll face. What’s new is an enhanced look at the Fortress of Solitude and the servant bots that help repair Superman’s broken body.

Honestly, I’m not sure what to think of this movie. It feels like there’s just way too much happening, and the Fortress of Solitude segment is kind of corny, too? But there’s also something earnest and hopeful that I also really enjoy as a contrast to the darkness of recent Superman films.

Written and directed by Gun, Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell. The film opens in theaters on July 11th.
