Since winning the Academy Award for her performance in Anora, the offers coming Mikey Madison’s way seem to be for big franchises. She was recently said to be eyeing a role in Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot, and that may or may not still happen. But earlier, Jeff Sneider also mentioned that she could be in line for something bigger, a role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars movie that is expected to star Ryan Gosling.
Well, according to Variety, Madison has turned down that offer to join a galaxy far far away. Madison was having conversations to join the film, but those talks have come to an end with the actress passing on it.
No reason was given as to why. Perhaps she’ll be too busy with Resident Evil? Perhaps she doesn’t want the kind of attention that comes with joining Star Wars? We’ve seen from Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran, and other women that it can get pretty toxic.
Or it could be something else entirely. Joining the Lucasfilm ranks could mean a long-term commitment with little time to do other projects that Madison is interested in.
Details on Levy’s untitled film remain pretty scarce. It will have a script by Jonathan Tropper, and will be separate from The Skywalker Saga which concluded with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
As for Madison, we’re still waiting to learn what her next major move will be.
