Disney is going to be plenty busy the rest of the week with Star Wars Celebration taking place. So that makes today just the right time for a new The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer, offering a lot of new footage.
The latest footage gives us another look at the alternate retro-future version of the 1960s in which the Fantastic Four are Earth’s mightiest and most popular heroes. We know that by the end of the film they’ll be in the current MCU and ready to take part in Avengers: Doomsday, so one of the question marks is how that happens.
This trailer also confirms something that we already know, Sue Storm is preggers, presumably with Franklin Richards who is a game-changing character for the MCU. We also get our best look yet at Julia Garner as the Shalla-Bal version of the Silver Surfer. It’s clear the special effects still need some tweaking but she looks pretty good already.
SYNOPSIS: Opening in theaters July 25, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens on July 25th from Marvel Studios.
