It’s been a rough 2025 so far for A24 in the genre space after Opus and Death Of a Unicorn disappointed. But there’s promise on the horizon with the horror film Bring Her Back, which not only stars Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins, but it’s directed by the Talk to Me duo of Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, behind A24’s highest grossing horror film ever.
Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman wrote the screenplay, with the plot staying as much a mystery as possible through two trailers now. Joining Hawkins in the cast are Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, and Mischa Heywood.
SYNOPSIS: A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.
A24 is putting a lot behind this one, and for good reason. Talk to Me was a critical and box office smash in 2022, earning $92M on a $4M budget. The film made stars out of the Philippou brothers, as well as actress Sophie Wilde.
Bring Her Back opens in theaters on May 30th so we won’t have long to wait.
