‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’ Teaser: The Band Finally Gets Back Together On September 12th

If you’ve had a hard time believing a sequel to rock mock classic This is Spinal Tap is real, today it’s time to wake up. Bleecker Street and Castle Rock Entertainment have announced that Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will hit theaters on September 12th!

Bleecker Street revealed its acquisition of the anticipated sequel, along with the 1984 cult classic This is Spinal Tap which will be re-released into theaters nationwide.

Spinal Tap II finds Reiner back as director and in the role of documentarian Martin “Marty” Di Bergi. Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, and Michael McKean return as the parody English rock band’s members Nigel Tufnel, Derek Smalls, and David St. Hubbins respectively. Fran Drescher will also reprise her role as Bobbi Flekman.

The iconic characters have appeared in other projects over the years. Drescher played Flekman in an episode of her hit series The Nanny, while the band guested on an episode of The Simpsons, which Shearer is a mainstay on.

Here’s a brief synopsis: Conceived by Guest, McKean, Reiner, and Shearer, “Spinal Tap II” follows England’s loudest and most punctual band, as they reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will have gigantic shoes to fill, but at least now we can firmly say that the band is getting back together.
