Following their high-profile exit from Scream 7, the directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin
and Tyler Gillett aka Radio Silence gave us the mini-vampire flick Abigail. It did okay (I loved it), and set them on the path towards a long-awaited remake of Escape from New York. Well, the wait is going to be even longer for that one as Deadline reports that next up for them will be a sequel to their 2019 breakout thriller, Ready or Not.
Radio Silence will direct Ready or Not 2, with original star Samara Weaving returning as the bride who survived a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with her creepy in-laws. Not only that, but Weaving will be joined by Abigail star, Kathryn Newton, with more casting news to come.
Original screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy will return to write the script. Busick is a longtime Radio Silence collaborator, having worked with them on Ready or Not, Abigail, Scream, and Scream VI. He also wrote Scream 7 and co-wrote Final Destination: Bloodlines, which opens in May.
Newton had a busy 2024, also appearing in Winner, Lisa Frankenstein, and the indie comedy Griffin in Summer. Weaving is one of the best female actions stars right now, and showed why in the action-horror Azrael. I can’t recommend that one highly enough.
Expect Ready or Not 2 in theaters sometime in 2026.
