It took The Iron Claw director Sean Durkin twelve years to complete his first three movies, but now he’s working at a much faster clip. Earlier this month we learned he’d be directing Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler in Deep Cuts, and today comes news of his next project. This one will see him reunited with the star of his first movie in her debut acting role.
Deadline reports Durking will direct Elizabeth Olsen in the FX series, Seven Sisters. Olsen made her big screen debut in Durkin’s first movie, 2011’s cult thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene. Durkin will direct the pilot episode penned by Will Arbery, a writer on Succession and Irma Vep. It’s unclear how long Durkin plans to stick around to direct more episodes, but that depends on FX taking the series to order.
In Seven Sisters, Olsen plays a sister whose tight-knit family begins to unravel when she starts communicating with a voice no one else an hear, forcing them to confront long-buried secrets.
Coming up next for Olsen is Fleur Fortuné’s The Assessment, a sci-fi film with Alicia Vikander and Himesh Patel that arrives next week. She was last seen in the critically acclaimed Netflix drama Three Daughters.
