David Fincher And Brad Pitt Reportedly Teaming On A Mystery Sequel For Netflix

David Fincher and Brad Pitt have done three movies together: Se7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Fight Club. According to a report from World of Reel, the duo is set for a fourth collaboration on a top secret project set up at Netflix.

So, the particulars on this one are kinda sketchy, and the report stresses that other outets may need to flesh it out. But it says Fincher’s next film, which Pitt is already signed on for, will be a sequel to a movie that Fincher didn’t previously direct. Hmmm…

And no, it’s got nothing to do with Fincher’s Squid Game spinoff series which is moving ahead quickly. Nor is it in relation to Bitterroot, the Western that Fincher was developing and now is on the backburner in favor of this new project.

This would be Fincher’s third movie for Netflix following Mank and The Killer. He recently extended his contract with Netflix through 2027.

Hopefully, we’re hear more news on this soon but my guess is a World War Z sequel. Fincher was attached to direct a follow-up to Pitt’s 2013 zombie horror, but issues with the Chinese government (they really disliked ghost and zombie movies) led to it being scrapped. If those hurdles are removed and other rights issues are sorted out, I see no reason why it couldn’t happen now.
