It’s not often that you get a whole teaser trailer basically just to announce new casting. But when you’re Shrek 5 and the person joining the cast is Zendaya, well, who can blame Dreamworks for doing it?
That’s right, Zendaya has joined the voice cast of Shrek 5, joining Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy. Zendaya will be voicing Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, who is pretty disgusted by her daddy in the brief footage released.
This is the first Shrek movie since 2010’s Shrek Forever After, although two Puss in Boots spinoffs were released in 2011 and 2022.
Franchise veteran Walt Dohrm will co-direct with Conrad Vernon and Brad Ableson. Dohrm is also the director of the popular Trolls movies, so he’s been a major force at Dreamworks Animation.
Universal Pictures will release Shrek 5 in theaters on December 23rd 2026. [THR]
