Never heard of Dr. Audrey Evans? Well, you should, as she’s one of the most influential physicians ever in the field of oncology and has helped save the lives of millions. More people will get to know her thanks to Audrey’s Children, a new film starring Game of Thrones‘ Natalie Dormer as the trailblazer and one of the original founders of Ronald McDonald House.
The film is directed by Ami Canaan Mann, daughter of Michael Mann and director of 2011’s Texas Killing Fields. Written and produced by Dr. Evans’ family friend Julia Fisher Farbman, Audrey’s Children follows Evans’ career as a leader in the field of pediatric oncology, becoming the first female Chief of Oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Her work on neuroblastoma earned her the moniker “Mother of Neuroblastoma”, and she was a co-founder of the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974.
Also in the cast are Jimmi Simpson, Clancy Brown, and Brandon Michael Hall.
SYNOPSIS: AUDREY’S CHILDREN tells the untold true story of visionary British physician Dr. Audrey Evans, who burst onto the scene in 1969 as the first female Chief of Oncology at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Battling sexism, medical conventions, and the subterfuge of her peers, Evans developed the first Neuroblastoma Staging System, co-founded the first Ronald McDonald House for families of patients, and, ultimately, impacted the lives of millions of children and families around the world.
Blue Harbor Entertainment will release Audrey’s Children nationwide on March 25th in honor of Women’s History Month and Dr. Evans’ 100th birthday.
