How far do the bonds of friendship go? Naomie Harris and Natalie Dormer have theirs tested by the need for revenge in the new thriller, The Wasp. Directed by Guillem Morales, the film stars Harris as a woman who is fed up with her abusive, cheating husband, and sets out to kill him with the help of a friend.
As seen in the new trailer, Harris plays Heather, who is desperate to do away with her husband who has been abusive and a serial adulterer. In a flashback, we see that her friend Carla, played by Dormer, has the ability to kill another living creature, which is why Heather enlists her help. But something isn’t quite what it seems, and Heather’s motives could be something else altogether.
Also in the cast is Dominic Allburn (The Model) as Heather’s husband.
Morales last directed the Guillermo Del Toro-produced horror Julia’s Eyes. Screenwriter Morgan Lloyd Malcolm is an acclaimed playwright who also co-wrote the Netflix series Obsession.
Harris is best known for her roles in Moonlight, 28 Days Later, and Daniel Craig’s 007 run concluding with No Time to Die. Dormer is a Game of Thrones alum who also appeared in The Hunger Games franchise, Elementary, and The Tudors.
SYNOPSIS: Adapted by Morgan Lloyd Malcom from her acclaimed play of the same name, The Wasp is a sharp, twisty tale about two estranged childhood friends, Heather (Harris) and Carla (Dormer), who reunite for a cup of tea after not having spoken in many years. At their meeting, Heather presents a very unexpected proposition that will change their lives forever.
The Wasp opens in select theaters on August 30th.
