The year 1999 was a trip. If you were old enough to remember it, the world had gone nuts with the theory that everything computerized would shut down, or the machines would take over, or some other such nonsense. Of course, none of that would happen. Our clocks changed over just fine, our household appliances functioned as normal, planes didn’t suddenly fall out of the sky…whatever. But what if things had gone as some of the worst horror stories had predicted? Would it be…well, funny? That’s what Kyle Mooney thinks with his new apocalyptic comedy, Y2K, which looks like an absolute blast.
Starring Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Julian Dennison, Y2K is a disaster comedy in which everything that can go wrong on the final night of 1999 does go wrong. Worldwide chaos and hilarity ensue!
SYNOPSIS: On the last night of 1999, two high school juniors crash a New Year’s Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy.
The film also stars The Kid Laroi, Lachlan Watson, Mason Gooding, Daniel Zolghadri, Eduardo Franco, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, and Fred Durst. SNL vet Mooney co-wrote the script with Evan Winter and has a small role in the film.
Y2K hits theaters on December 6th, and doesn’t it just look exactly like an A24 movie?
