‘Voltron’: Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora, And John Kim Suit Up For Amazon MGM’s Live-Action Film

So whose leading this Lion Force, anyway? Amazon MGM has added three more stars to its live-action Voltron movie, including Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown! He’s joined by pop star/actress Rita Ora and John Kim in the film based on the 1980s cartoon series.

Deadline has no information on the roles they’ll play, although Brown has been rumored for the villain role. Brown, Ora, and Kim join the previously cast Henry Cavill and Daniel Quinn-Toye. Red Notice‘s Rawson Marshall Thurber directs from a script he co-wrote with Ellen Shanman.

Here’s what Thurber recently told a large group of Voltron fans at VoltCon…

“I want to make sure that we stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron. In this film, we’re going to be introducing an entirely new generation of pilots. We’ve reimagined Voltron for the live-action world, but we’re going to stay true to … those iconic elements that you love, that I love. And I’m so excited to share it with you.”

Voltron followed a team of space explorers in mechanized vehicles that combined to form the ultimate robot defender of the galaxy. The first season centered on the Lion Force Five, while the second season followed a larger team in weaponized vehicles.

Brown was last seen opposite Jennifer Lopez in the sci-fi action film, Atlas. Ora is a global superstar with millions of fans and albums sold. She’s had roles in the 50 Shades of Grey franchise, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, and Southpaw. Kim is currently starring in Amazon MGM’s Cruel Intentions series.
