By now you probably already know that your favorite animated Disney movie is eventually going to get the live-action treatment. Even Moana, which is just a few years old and has a sequel coming out this week, will have one in 2026. But the next remake will be Lilo & Stitch, based on the beloved 2002 movie.
Everyone’s favorite fuzzy blue alien is back and totally in CGI for the new Lilo & Stitch. This brief teaser is basically Disney’s way of introducing us to how Stitch is going to look, and he looks fairly accurate. It could’ve been much worse! Just remember how badly Sonic the Hedgehog got fucked up the first time!
Chris Sanders returns as the voice of Stitch, and he’s joined in the cast by Maia Kealoha as Lilo. Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis co-star.
The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, whose debut stop-motion film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On was good experience for this one.
Lilo & Stitch opens in theaters on May 23rd 2025.
SYNOPSIS: A live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch,” is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.
