Ben Stiller rarely steps in front of the camera these days, preferring to show what he can do as a director and producer. So one might expect that he’s just being really choosy, and perhaps been waiting all this time to work with director David Gordon Green, or to do a Christmas comedy. Well, if that’s the case then he’s got his wish with Nutcrackers.
This is a return to comedy form for both Stiller and Green, who have been off doing different things. For Stiller, he’s been working on the hit Apple series Severance, and hasn’t been a comedy lead in seven years. Green has been in the realm of horror for years, completing his Halloween trilogy and last year’s The Exorcist: Believer.
In Nutcrackers, Stiller plays a workaholic who suddenly becomes caretaker to his four rambunctious nephews. Hilarity and fart jokes abound, but this looks pretty harmless overall.
Joining Stiller in the cast are Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, Toby Huss, Homer Janson, Ulysses Janson, Arlo Janson, and Atlas Janson.
Nutcrackers hits Hulu on November 29th.
SYNOPSIS: Nutcrackers follows strait-laced and work obsessed Mike (Stiller) as he is suddenly thrust into being a caregiver for his rambunctious, orphaned nephews.
