Marvel’s Kevin Feige Says ‘Blade’ Movie Is Still Alive

It’s hard to have faith in Marvel’s Blade movie ever happening. Announced more than five years ago, the film has never really been close to getting off the ground. Directors keep leaving, there have been loads of screenwriters and actors passing through, and even star Mahershala Ali has grown frustrated. But Kevin Feige is more confident than ever that Blade will come to the MCU.

Feige recently said at D23 Brazil (Omelet via Deadline) that Blade is still on the way despite the many changes in direction that have slowed it down…

“We love the character, we love Mahershala’s version of him. And rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still trying to figure out how it fits into our schedule, we let the public know. You’re up to date on what’s going on. But I can tell you that the character will be coming to the MCU,” Feige said.

The last concrete thing we learned was that Disney had pulled the film off the schedule. It was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in summer 2019 with Ali set to star. He remains the only confirmed cast member.

I would note that Feige only says the “character” Blade is coming to the MCU, but not the movie itself. They’re still figuring that part out.

Speaking of which, the report mentions horror queen Mia Goth and that she may no longer be attached to co-star in Blade. This has been pretty obvious for months as she’s not been mentioned in connection to it for quite a while.
