‘Lanterns’: Garret Dillahunt Lands Recurring Role In HBO’s Green Lantern Series

DC Studios and HBO’s Green Lantern series Lanterns is ramping up quickly. Already we know the show’s two stars, Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, plus Kelly Macdonald in a regular role. Now Deadline reports that Garret Dillahunt is the latest to join the earthbound detective series.

Dillahunt is set to have a recurring role in Lanterns, playing “modern cowboy” William Macon, described as “a self-righteous, conspiracy-minded man who masks his ruthless ambition behind a charming and calculated facade.” Macdonald plays Sheriff Kerry, who assists in Jordan and Stewart’s investigation of a murder in America’s heartland.

Dillahunt has done the cowboy thing before, having featured for years in the HBO series Deadwood. He’s also known for his TV roles in Raising Hope, Fear the Walking Dead, and Hand of God. On the big screen he’s been just as busy with key roles in No Country for Old Men, 12 Years a Slave, and another Western with The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

The eight-episode Lanterns series was created by showrunner Chris Mundy, and co-writers Damon Lindelof and Tom King. Expect more casting news to follow, and hopefully news on a premiere date.
