Denzel Washington Says A ‘Black Panther 3’ Role Is Being Written For Him

Now, Denzel Washington could be pulling our legs here. If you’ve seen him in Gladiator II (review) he’s clearly doing a lot of joking around and having fun, so he might’ve just rolled that attitude along into the press tour. Because recently on Today, Denzel dropped that he’s coming to Marvel.

In the interview, Denzel talked about his upcoming Othello movie and said he and Steve McQueen were discussing a potential project. Then he just casually dropped that Ryan Coogler was writing a role for him in Black Panther 3. What???!? As who? Please tell me it’s Achebe!

Denzel is at the point in his career where he doesn’t need to keep secrets. His involvement helps ANY project he’s attached to so why keep quiet about it? Still, it’s pretty wild to think he has a part in Black Panther 3, a film that hasn’t even been announced, by the way. Following the nearly $900M haul of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we had every reason to expect there would be a sequel. But if there’s any reason to greenlight that thing right now it’s the prospect of Denzel in the MCU.

Denzel will be seen next in Gladiator II on November 22nd.
