If Steven Spieberg wants you for his movie, you do it. He pretty much has his pick of stars and for good reason. His upcoming sci-fi movie already has Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson attached, and now Spielberg’s sights are set on Josh O’Connor.
THR reports Josh O’Connor has joined Spielberg’s untitled sci-fi movie. The red-hot actor has been everywhere lately, including the tennis hit Challengers. Details on what Spielberg has planned are unknown, but the film will have a script from David Koepp and is being seen as a potential blockbuster.
Spielberg has taken a break from larger movies of late, with his last being Ready Player One in 2018. He’s instead focused on dramas such as The Post, West Side Story, and his semi-autobiographical The Fabelmans.
Coming up for O’Connor is the anticipated Knives Out sequel, Wake Up Dead Man. He also has Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, and The History of Sound alongside Paul Mescal.
Universal plans to release Spielberg’s film on May 15th 2026.
