‘The Strangers: Chapter 2’ Teaser: Renny Harlin’s Horror Sequel Features A Nightmarish Car Ride

Renny Harlin is a veteran filmmaker whose heyday was in the ’90s directing action flicks such as Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger. He’s hardly the first director one would expect to helm a trilogy of The Strangers films back-to-back-to-back. But the first movie released earlier this year was a modest success, and now the second chapter of the revitalized franchise is right around the corner.

A new trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2 shows that it picks up right where the last film left off, with Madelaine Petsch returning as final girl Maya, who wakes up in a hospital room. Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath return, as well.

Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland continue as screenwriters, expanding on the horror franchise that began with Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers in 2008.

I’m a big fan of The Strangers but found Chapter 1 to be formulaic home invasion stuff with little new to offer. Supposedly, the sequel is going to try something different and I think we can see a little bit of that in this teaser which features a nightmarish car ride.

Lionsgate will release The Strangers: Chapter 2 arrives in 2025, with the third chapter expected to arrive the same year.
