It seems crazy to think we used to live in a world where TV roles were seen as “less than” when compared to film roles. Remembering that for a moment, then looking at the cast of Showtime’s upcoming spy thriller The Agency really shows you how far we’ve come. The series is headlined by Michael Fassbender, A-List get right there, but now consider he’s backed up with a cast comprised of Jeffery Wright, Jodi Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterson, and Richard freakin Gere. I think you get the point. The series is a proven entity as well, being an American take on the hit French drama Le Bureau des Legendes, it would suffice to say that they’ve done everything they could to stack the deck.
It really seems like The Agency is Showtime making its move to be a major player in the dramatic series world. I may be missing something, but I can’t think of a single big draw series produced by the pay cable mainstay.
Judging from the trailer released today, which you can check out below, The Agency is going to keep tensions high and trust at a minimum. Fassbender’s character, Martian, is tapped by his boss to bring in one of their team that’s been lost…by any means necessary. If the goal of this trailer was to showcase the talent they have on staff and convince you that all of the hallmarks of a classic spy thriller were there, mission accomplished.
Check out the trailer below and look for The Agency on Showtime November 29th.
