Following rave reviews for his breakthrough military drama, The Inspection, director Elegance Bratton is going in a different direction with crime thriller By Any Means. Joining him in this sophomore effort are Oscar nominees Mark Wahlberg and Sterling K. Brown.
Deadline reports Bratton will direct Wahlberg and Brown in By Any Means, a true crime thriller based on the Black List script CI34 from Sascha Penn and Theodore Witcher. The film tells the incredible true story of the mafia hitman hired by J Edgar Hoover’s FBI off-the-books and partnered with a young Black agent to hunt down killers of civil rights leaders in 1966 Mississippi.
Wahlberg recently signed on to a sequel of his recent Apple hit, The Family Plan, and has been seen this year in Arthur the King and The Union. Coming up for him is Shane Black’s next film Play Dirty, and Mel Gibson’s Flight Risk. Following his Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for American Fiction, Brown was seen in the sci-fi film Atlas. He’ll next star in the Hulu series Paradise, from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. He also has the film Is God Is which is shooting now.
Filming on By Any Means begins in March.
