Horror anthologies are simply awesome, quote me on that one. Sure there have been some stinkers throughout the last 40 years but even a bad horror anthology has at least one good segment. V/H/S brought the format back with a bang 12 years ago and has since morphed into a yearly event thanks to Shudder. The latest, V/H/S/Beyond, which is supposed to have a sci-fi spin looks to be upping the ante on terror and gore if this new trailer is to be believed.
Now, I say “supposed to be sci-fi” because, to me, sci-fi isn’t terrifying. Even the best sci-fi horror, something like Event Horizon or Aliens, can be scary but falls short of what I’d call terrifying. This trailer for V/H/S/Beyond though? I can’t think of a better word then terror to describe what’s included. Kinetic and chaotic while being soaked with blood and viscera, the makeup effects in this appear to be astounding. Just look at the article image above and tell me that’s not the stuff of nightmares.
Don’t take my word for it, check out the clip below and look for V/H/S/Beyond October 4th, on Shudder
