- Twisters (review)- $80.5M
It takes a disaster movie to save a disastrous summer box office, and that’s what Twisters has done with an $80.5M debut, whirling its way to $123M worldwide. That’s good for the best opening weekend ever for a disaster movie, and just slightly below what Oppenheimer did on this same weekend last year. This was a true summer event movie, with two hot leads in Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, plus name recognition for fans of the 1996 classic Twister.
