‘KAOS’ Trailer: Jeff Goldblum Is Zeus In Netflix’s Dark Comedy Mythological Series

What happens when an immortal, all-powerful god suddenly realizes that he might not be as immortal, or powerful, as he once thought? A wrinkle on the forehead of Zeus could be the beginning of the end in KAOS, the mythological dark comedy series coming to Netflix, and starring Jeff Goldblum as the thunder-wielding head of the Greek gods of Olympus.

Goldblum is joined by Janet McTeer, David Thewlis, Debi Mazar, Rakie Ayola, Cliff Curtis, Stephen Dillane, Aurora Perrineau, Nabhaan Rizwan, Killian Scott, Misia Butler Stanley Townsend and Leila Farzad rounding out this Pantheon, with Billie Piper and Suzy Eddie Izzard also appearing.

Here’s the synopsis: Having long enjoyed his status as king of the gods, Zeus’s reign has never been truly threatened. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the god of gods – seeing signs everywhere – starts to dangerously self-destruct.

And he’s right to be worried. Zeus’s one time friend and now prisoner, Prometheus, is orchestrating a plan to bring him down. The plan involves three disparate humans, all of whom are totally unaware of their cosmic significance or the part they must play in saving the world. No pressure. (Some pressure.)

The series was created by Charlie Covell, known for their acclaimed work on The End of the F***ing World. There’s a similarly irreverent tone here, as well, and the whole thing just looks like a ton of fun. And who doesn’t want to watch Jeff Goldblum as king of the gods?

KAOS premieres on Netflix on August 29th.
