‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: Kevin Feige Talks Hugh Jackman’s Future As Logan

Remember when everyone thought Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was a terrible idea? That was more than two decades ago, and yeah, I was part of that crowd who thought a 6-foot-tall Aussie was lame to play the ol’ Canucklehead. But boy were we wrong! Jackman’s performances as Logan are iconic, and they get the ultimate payoff in Deadpool & Wolverine. But now that Jackman has returned to the role and joined the MCU, what comes next for him?

Kevin Feige spoke with Discussing Film, and when asked about Jackman’s future in the MCU, he wasn’t ready to divulge anything, saying there are “no immediate plans”. However, he did admit that someday someone else is going to have to take over the role. It’s just a matter of when…

“Yes. You know, Marvel is celebrating its 85th anniversary later this summer. That’s just the first 85 years, and Disney just celebrated 100 years as well. I think these characters will be around for another 100 years, long after all of us. So, for sure, there will be [eventually another actor as Wolverine]. I think it will be in a very different style and in a different way. I also think if somebody were to attempt to do a Hugh Jackman as Wolverine impression, that would be a pretty big mistake.”

I’m not going to give away any Deadpool & Wovlerine spoilers or anything, but the film opens up a lot of possibilities for a number of characters. Would you want to see Hugh Jackman continue as Wolverine? Or is now the time to pass the torch?
