‘The Killer’s Game’ Trailer: Dave Bautista Takes A Hit Out On Himself In Action-Comedy With Pom Klementieff, Sofia Boutella, & More

There’s so much to like about action-comedy The Killer’s Game that it simply can’t get here soon enough. Dave Bautista takes center stage in a film that finds him surrounded by action movie superstars both in front of and behind the camera. And the new trailer? It looks damn good, too.

The Killer’s Game stars Bautista as a hitman who gets the terrible news that he has a terminal illness with only months to live. Preferring to go out on his own terms, he takes out a hit on himself, drawing the attention of top assassins from around the world. Then he learns that the diagnosis? Well, it was a mistake, but the “game” is still on and now he must fight for his life.

So let’s start with the cast, which includes the great Ben Kingsley, Bautista’s Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Pom Klementieff (Drax and Mantis forever!!!), Terry Crews, Sofia Boutella, and former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Also in the cast are martial arts pros Scott Adkins, Daniel Barnhardt, and Marko Zaror who’s film The Fist of the Condor was one of the best action flicks of 2023 that nobody saw.

Behind the camera is director J.J. Perry, whose debut feature Day Shift was a fun vampire comedy with Jamie Foxx. He began his career as a stunt performer on The Rundown, Mortal Kombat, and more. The film is based on a book by Jay Bonansinga, author of multiple The Walking Dead novels.

SYNOPSIS: In the new action-comedy THE KILLER’S GAME, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella) , he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.

Lionsgate opens The Killer’s Game into theaters on September 13th.
