‘Superman’: David Corenswet Suits Up For Action In First Look At James Gunn’s Man Of Steel Film

Get ready for lots and lots of heavy examination on social media, because James Gunn has revealed the first look at David Corenswet in his Superman suit. Eagle-eyed fans can start dissecting this image now, and it’ll be interesting to see the reaction and how Gunn responds to it, because we know that he will.

What’s different about this image is that it’s not an action shot. Remember when we first saw Henry Cavill as Superman? He was poised for action after busting through a wall or something. But here, Corenswet is…sitting, and maybe pulling on his boots? The suit looks like it’s been through some shit, too.

What’s most intriguing is what’s happening in the background. Some kind of cosmic force is going on in the sky, and that might be what Superman is about to fly off to confront.

The key takeaway for me? This will be a very different movie than Snyder’s Man of Steel, one that could be more of a character study than a blockbuster spectacle. That’s a risky approach to take.

Superman opens in theaters on July 25th 2025. Expect more images to come over the next few months and maybe a teaser as Comic-Con draws near?
