‘Boomtown’ Trailer: Family Drama From 2017 With Rachel Brosnahan And Boyd Holbrook Returns On VOD Next Month

Released back in 2017, the family drama Boomtown sorta came and went. It premiered at the Nashville Film Festival and opened in the fall, but didn’t make a lot of waves. But then, stars Rachel Brosnahan and Boyd Holbrook were hardly household names at the time. That would change when she won accolades for starring in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and he would go on to have roles in Logan, The Predator, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

So, with both Brosnahan and Holbrook much bigger stars, Boomtown is being re-released on digital. Written and directed by musician/filmmaker Sabyn Mayfield, the film centers on a young father and husband who takes a dangerous job on the oil fields to provide a better life for his family.

The cast is led by Tyler Riggs, along with Brosnahan, Holbrook, Dwight Yoakam, and Jocelin Donahue.

Here’s the synopsis: To make ends meet, John “JT” Turner leaves his family behind to pursue a grueling yet highly coveted job in a now booming oil industry. Along the way he encounters the trials and tribulations shared by thousands of Americans every year as they stake their claim to the American Dream.

It’s understandable that a studio feels a quality film was overlooked in its first run, and decides to give it another shot. I’m not sure this looks any better than the reviews were for it back then, though. Then again, we now have an easier chance to find out.

Boomtown opens on VOD on June 4th via Good Deed Entertainment.
