Quentin Tarantino Dumps ‘The Movie Critic’ As His Final Film, Brad Pitt Would’ve Returned As Cliff Booth

In a surprising twist, Quentin Tarantino has scrapped plans to direct The Movie Critic, which would’ve been his final movie as a director. It’s unclear his reasons why, but it leaves the door open to another project taking its place. Does he already have one in mind, though?

As The Movie Critic goes bye-bye, details about it are being confirmed. Deadline says Brad Pitt was indeed going to be part of the cast, while THR adds that he would’ve reprise his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood role of stuntman Cliff Booth. That would’ve been amazing, and has me wondering how else the two movies might’ve connected.

Tom Cruise was another circling a role, but it looks as if his first chance to work with Tarantino will have to wait.

So is this a real thing or is Tarantino just getting antsy? If this is truly his tenth and final movie, he might want to make sure it’s the perfect project. Tarantino had recently given the script a rewrite, and maybe he’s discovered it’s better presented in a different way. Maybe as a series? And that would give him the chance to direct something else for the big screen. *cough* Kill Bill 3 *cough*

Tarantino has been known to scrap projects in the past, then come back to them like he did The Hateful Eight. So let’s just wait and see where this goes and how it plays out.
