‘The Idea Of You’ Trailer: Anne Hathaway Goes To Coachella And Falls For A Boy Band Star

While author Robinne Lee insists her novel The Idea of You was never meant to be Harry Styles fan-fiction, any connection to the hot pop star and actor can’t hurt the upcoming movie adaptation. Anne Hathaway stars in the film as a 40-year-old woman whose husband leaves her for a younger woman and cancels a trip to Coachella, so she goes in his place and falls in love with a boy band member.

Yeah, it really does sound like Harry Styles fan-fic smut for housewives, doesn’t it?

Anyway, joining Hathaway in the cast and playing said boy band dude is Nicholas Galitzine, who was hilarious in the raunchy comedy Bottoms. The film is directed by Michael Showalter, known primarily for Wet Hot American Summer but has bolstered his cred with acclaimed dramedies including The Big Sick and The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

Also in the cast are Ellen Rubin, Reid Scott, Annie Mumolo, Nina Bloomgarden, Raymond Cham, Mathilda Gianopoulos, Jordan Aaron Hall, Chandler Lovelle, Cheech Manohar, Perry Mattfeld, and Meg Millidge.

Here’s the official synopsis: Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet.

Prime Video debuts The Idea of You on May 2nd, following its world premiere later this month at SXSW.
