‘The Penguin’ Teaser: Colin Farrell Is Taking Over The Gotham Underworld In ‘The Batman’ Spinoff Series

The question I have going into Matt Reeves’ sequel The Batman-Part II and the upcoming Max series, The Penguin, is how long can it remain a standalone effort? Especially as Reeves’ vision grows to become its own cinematic universe, the urge to incorporate it into James Gunn’s DCU has to be strong. But for now, it remains separate, and a new trailer featuring Colin Farrell as the iconic Bat-villain has arrived.

The Penguin takes place in the aftermath of The Batman and the power vacuum left by the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone. And guess who is stepping in to fill the void? Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin, that’s who. Farrell once again gets buried under prosthetics to play the character. He clearly had a blast doing it before in a very small role, so it’s good to see him getting the spotlight.

Also in the cast are Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell, with Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen.

The Penguin premieres on Max this fall.
