‘Late Night With The Devil’ Trailer: David Dastmalchian Unleashes Evil On Late Night TV

The late night television landscape can be a horror show already, with multiple hosts competing for the same viewers and telling largely the same jokes. Well, horror actually comes to late night TV with IFC and Shudder’s new film, Late Night with the Devil, starring David Dastmalchian who pretty much has the market cornered on creepy and weird.

Directed by Australian siblings Cameron and Colin Cairnes, Late Night with the Devil is a found footage horror about the host of a fictional 1970s variety/talk show who unleashes untold evil on his guests. The film is presented as a broadcast from a Halloween episode in 1977 where Dastmalchian’s host interviews the survivor of a suicide cult.

Also in the cast are Laura Gordon, Ian Bliss, Fayssal Bazzi, Georgina Haig, Ingrid Torelli, Rhys Auteri, and Josh Quong Tart.

Dastmalchian is also a producer on the film. He’s probably best known for his comedic supporting role in the Ant-Man movies, but also for odd performances in PrisonersDuneThe Suicide Squad, and Boston Strangler. He also had a part in The Last Voyage of the Demeter and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, so his career runs the gamut.

Here’s the synopsis: October 31, 1977. Jack Delroy’s syndicated talk show ‘Night Owls’ has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country, but a year on from the tragic death of Jack’s wife, ratings have plummeted. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other, unaware he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America. “Late Night With The Devil” is the recently rediscovered recording of what went to air that fateful night.

Late Night with the Devil opens in theaters on March 22nd, before steaming on Shudder a month later on April 19th.
