Ryan Gosling Will Perform “I’m Just Ken” At The Oscars

I feel like this was willed into existence from the moment we saw Barbie and all of its wonderful musical numbers, but most especially Ryan Gosling’s instantly unforgettable “I’m Just Ken.” It’s been confirmed by Variety that Gosling will perform the song live at the Oscars on Sunday, March 10th.

Mark Ronson, co-writer of “I’m Just Ken”, has been pushing for Gosling to perform the song at the Academy Awards, even going so far to say that if Gosling refused he wouldn’t ask another to take his place…

“No. I think if Ryan doesn’t do it then we’re not doing it”, Ronson said.

This was actually a question, as well, because Gosling notably didn’t perform “City of Stars”, the Oscar-winning song from La La Land, with Emma Stone that year. Both actors had refused to do so and were replaced by John Legend.

“I’m Just Ken” is just one of two Barbie tracks that we’ll likely see performed during the Oscars. The other is Billie Eilish and Finneas” “What Was I Made For?” which won the Grammy earlier this year.
