‘The Rivals Of Amziah King’: Matthew McConaughey To Lead Oklahoma Crime Thriller From ‘The Vast Of Night’ Director

While the big news surrounding Matthew McConaughey has been his likely involvement in a Yellowstone sequel series, the actor has a new film coming up, as well. Black Bear International has set McConaughey to star in The Rivals of Amziah King, a crime thriller from The Vast of Night director Andrew Patterson.

Details on the film are scarce, but it’s described as  “deeply atmospheric, character-focused” and set in remote Oklahoma. Patterson will write and direct. It will be Patterson’s follow-up his acclaimed debut, 2019’s The Vast of Night, a unique retro sci-fi film that quickly established him as a rising star genre filmmaker.

Another one to keep an eye on at Cannes, where it will likely be a hot property on the sales floor. McConaughey most recently voiced Elvis in the Netflix animated series, Agent Elvis, and voiced Buster Moon in Sing 2.
