Colin Farrell Is Taking Charge Of The Gotham Underworld In ‘The Penguin’ In-Production Teaser

Colin Farrell might have been an Oscar nominee last year for The Banshees of Inisherin, but arguably the role he got the most attention for was Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. While it didn’t demand Farrell be on screen a lot, there was always the promise that he’d return in an HBO Max series centered on the crime kingpin, and now a new in-production teaser for the series has arrived.

The Penguin is still shooting, but the teaser offers plenty of new footage of the unrecognizable Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. They say that “nature abhors a vacuum”, and there’s a power vacuum in the Gotham City underworld that Penguin plans to fill.

Also in the cast are Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Theo Rossi, and Michael Zegen. Lauren LeFranc created the series and acts as writer and showrunner.

The Penguin doesn’t have a release date yet, but the eight-episode miniseries is expected to arrive later this year in the newly-christened Max streaming service announced by Warner Bros. Discovery today.
