‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ Trailer: Lily James And Shazad Latif Seek Real Love In The Time Of Online Dating

It’s a jungle out there in the dating world. Online dating apps were designed to make finding the right person easier, and that’s true in some cases. But in many others, swiping right has only made things much tougher. And just as the dating scene has changed, so too must the modern rom-com. Reflecting the current dating landscape is part of what has attracted many to Shekhar Kapur’s (Elizabeth, The Four Feathers) new romantic comedy, What’s Love Got to Do with It?

The film stars Lily James, a rom-com veteran, as documentary filmmaker Zoe, who has grown tired of endlessly swiping right in her quest to find the perfect love. Star Trek: Discovery‘s Shazad Latif plays Zoe’s best friend, Kaz, who is willing to abide by his cultural norms and agree to an arranged marriage. Zoe, always looking for a new story subject, agrees to accompany Kaz on this journey, learning something about her own approach to finding love in the process.

Also in the cast are Emma Thompson, Shabana Azmi, and Sajal Aly.

After debuting last year at Toronto and winning Best Comedy at the Rome Film Festival, What’s Love Got to Do with It? will open in theaters on May 5th.
