‘The Pick Up’: Eddie Murphy To Star In ‘Bad Boys’ Style Heist Comedy For Amazon Studios

Eddie Murphy is hot right now, and still able to launch a bidding war between the major studios. Such is the case with The Pick Up, a heist comedy that Amazon Studios has cracked open the bank to acquire, largely because Murphy is eyeing the lead role in a film described as similar to Bad Boys.

Deadline has the news on The Pick Up, which Murphy is in talks to produce and star in for Amazon Studios. The film will have Tim Story (Ride Along) aboard to direct from a spec script written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. The duo previously wrote the 2018 comedy The Package and created web series Gentlemen Lobsters.

Murphy would reportedly play a man who becomes smitten with a woman and finds himself thrust into the middle of a heist. So there’s a big co-starring role for an actress opposite Murphy, in a film that sounds like a lot of fun. This sounds like a part that would be perfect for Murphy’s You People co-star, Nia Long.
