‘Secret Invasion’: Emilia Clarke’s Role Revealed As New Images Emerge From Marvel’s Espionage Series

Perhaps fitting for their espionage series Secret Invasion, Marvel is keeping details shrouded in mystery. But a few secrets have started to emerge, including the identity of the key character played by Emilia Clarke, and her ties to another. Vanity Fair has the info, along with a batch of new photos featuring the main players in this shadowy story.

The new photos spotlight Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull known as Talos, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross who was last seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

As for Clarke, who also gets a couple of new photos, she is confirmed as Talos’ daughter G’iah, the very same child he fought to reunite with at the end of Captain Marvel.

Kingsley Ben-Adir is also set as the villain, Gravik, a “resistance leader who has radicalized a group of Skrull extremists to seize the resources” they need in order to survive—“first quietly, by disguising themselves, then by force, if needed.”

Olivia Colman is high-ranking MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth, an old friend of Nick Fury’s who Jackson describes as “cold-blooded.”

Secret Invasion centers on Nick Fury as he discovers a plot by the shapeshifting Skrulls to infiltrate their way into positions of power around the world. Jackson gives further details on why the Skrulls have been driven to act, and it starts with Fury failing to live up to his promises.

“They kept their word. They worked for him, but he hasn’t done what he said he was going to do. They want a home. They want to live. They want to live in their skin. They don’t want to live in ours.”

Secret Invasion hits Disney+ on June 21st.
