Quentin Tarantino Confirms ‘The Film Critic’ As His Next And “Last” Movie, Shooting Later This Year

Recent rumors had Quentin Tarantino finally ready to shoot his tenth and final movie before retirement, The Film Critic. Reportedly set in the late 1970s Los Angeles, speculation quickly sprang up that it was about legendary film critic Pauline Kael. Well, the rumors were mostly correct.

Tarantino opened up to Cannes Film Festival director Theirry Fremaux (via France24) and confirmed that The Film Critic is his next film and he has finished the script with plans to shoot later this year. While he also confirmed the 1977 Los Angeles setting, he denied that it has anything to do with Kael, saying it isn’t about any one specific film critic.

“I have finished the script of what will end up being my last movie. I imagine we’ll probably shoot it, I guess, in the fall.”

We’re closer than ever to the end of Tarantino’s movie career, which makes any news on The Film Critic bittersweet at best. That said, we’ll be pouring over every single detail until the movie drops, and then we’ll pour over it with a microscope when it does, because Tarantino movies inspire us to do so.
