Fede Alvarez’s New ‘Alien’ Film Recruits Isabela Merced

Isabela Merced (formerly Isabela Moner) is only 21-years-old, but she’s had quite a career already. From her breakout role on the Nickelodeon series 100 Things to Do Before High School, she’s already starred in the Transformers and Sicario franchises, along with playing Dora the Explorer in a live-action film. And now she’s joining the new Alien movie from filmmaker Fede Alvarez.

Deadline reports that Merced is joining the previously-cast Cailee Spaeny in Alvarez’s upcoming Alien movie. Details on the film are unclear, but it has Ridley Scott aboard as a producer and is being developed as a Hulu exclusive, similar to the recent Predator sequel, Prey.

Pretty cool that Alvarez is continuing the Alien tradition of having women lead the battle against the xenomorphs. Here’s hoping that her casting will start a surge of new details on what we can expect.

Merced recently starred in Rosaline and the remake Father of the Bride. Coming up is an adaptation of John Green’s bestseller, Turtles All the Way Down, and Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff, Madame Web.
