‘Ballerina Overdrive’: Lena Headey, Yara Shahidi, Isabela Merced, Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds & Iris Apatow To Star In David Leitch-Produced Action Flick

David Leitch is one of the masterminds behind John Wick, and the recent director of Bullet Train. But even when he’s only a producer, he backs projects that fit the same mold, such as Nobody and Violent Night. Now Leitch is backing the awesomely-titled Ballerina Overdrive, which sounds like it could exist in the John Wick universe with no problem.

Ballerina Overdrive is led by six badass ladies. Lena Headey (Gunpower Milkshake), Yara Shahidi (Grown-ish), Isabela Merced (Sicario 2), Lana Condor (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Millicent Simmonds (A Quiet Place) and Iris Apatow (The Bubble) star in the film about a troupe of ballerinas forced to fight for their lives in a remote inn when their bus breaks down on the way to a competition.

The film is directed by Vicky Jewson, known for Netflix’s The Witcher: Blood Origin, from a script by Kate Freund.

Many have described the action in John Wick as being like a ballet of violence, but that will literally be the case for Ballerina Overdrive and its “dance-based action choreography.” Yes, please. [Deadline]
