‘Dark Match’: Chris Jericho Follows ‘Terrifier 2’ Role With Wrestling-Themed Horror

After suffering the upset loss of the decade, former AEW World Heavyweight Champion “The Ocho” Chris Jericho has landed another movie gig. Deadline reports that he’ll star in wrestling-themed horror, Dark Match. This follows on the heels of Jericho’s hilarious role in Terrifier 2. Dude loves his blood and guts.

The story centers on a small-time wrestling company that accepts a prime booking in a backwoods town, only to learn that the community is led by a cult leader with devious plans for the show.

Jericho is joined in the cast by Ayisha Issa (Transplant), Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries), Michael Eklund (Wynonna Earp) and Jonathan Cherry (Goon). The film is written and directed by Lowell Dean, with Jericho also aboard as an exec-producer.

Filming is already wrapped, so look for news on a release to arrive soon. Actually, don’t be surprised if Jericho finds a way to work it into his character on AEW Dynamite. Few are better at promoting themselves than the ol’ Lionheart, that’s for sure.
