The Almond and the Seahorse. It’s an odd title, but one that refers to the parts of the brain that lay down new memories and hold on to old ones. And that becomes a problem for Rebel Wilson and Charlotte Gainsbourg, who play women coping with the effects of traumatic brain injury on their respective relationships.
Wilson, who has been exploring her dramatic side of late, plays an archaeologist who is facing complications with her husband after he suffers a traumatic brain injury. Meanwhile, Gainsbourg is an architect who no longer has the same love for her husband after his TBI.
The film marks the directorial debut of BAFTA-nominated screenwriter and actor Celyn Jones, along with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Tom Stern. Jones also co-stars in the film and co-wrote the screenplay with playwright Kaite O’Reilly, adapting her own work.
The Almond and the Seahorse opens in theaters and VOD on December 16th.
